OUR ORIGIN


Simma Africa Creative Arts Foundation (SAF) is a feminist womxn-led organization founded in 2016 (Registered 2018) by and for LBTIQ folx who faced social challenges at workplaces, stigma and discrimination in educational institutions and society due to their sexual orientation and Gender Identity . SAF focuses on the protection and promotion of the livlihoods rights and freedoms of LBTIQ Refugee Native womxn and Adolescent Girls and Young Womxn (AGYW) in Uganda.



SAF takes a holistic approach to tackling gender inequalities and climate justice. Our approach recognizes that change is needed to support all womxn and girls’ awareness, capacities and abilities to create opportunities and an enabling environment for empowerment. We collaborate with feminist organizations, human rights activists, legal partners, community leaders from different sectors.


"Simma Africa's mission is to encourage creativity and production throughout the value chain of the creative industries, thereby helping to ensure access to decent jobs and to sustain-ably improve living conditions of Lesbian Bisexual Intersex and Transgender Female Designers and Digital artists and their immediate environment."


Simma Africa coordinates a Feminist Creative Hub. A networking hub to share evidence and strengthen action to realize Gender Equality, Body Autonomy, Climate Justice, Advocacy on Human Rights and Economic Justice. The coalition promotes improved citizens’ rights and access to quality services, particularly of womxn, girls, key population communities and marginalized groups in a safe, fair and equitable manner.
